The Hairless Pup and Palladia update

Hey everyone, Butchey Hudson here.  WELL!  Life sure has been bizarre here at the house.  Let me back-track a bit…

So then a few weeks ago, Momma and Dada left for a while, but Nana AND Mimi were BOTH here while they were away.  Don’t ask me how many days, I’m a dog – I don’t have a good concept of time….Maybe 3 or 4 sleeps.

Then Dada came home and had this hat and blanket for me and Lola to smell.  Hmmm…

THEN, FINALLY, Momma and Dada came home with this….this THING.  I think it’s a “she” and she sure does scream an awful lot.  Momma and Dada call her Tessa, and I guess she is “the baby”.  At first, I liked her better when she was still in Momma’s belly.  But now I am used to her.  Although, she doesn’t look like a baby human, she doesn’t walk, or talk, or even crawl.  She looks like a hairless pup.  And she just yells a bunch.  Especially in the middle of the night.  She disrupts my beauty sleep.  But Momma and Dada seem to really like her.

Here is the official “fur-amily” photo

So, some might say, that now with a baby in the house, there is less time for the dogs.  WELL – Somehow Momma still finds time to brush me out and trim my nails!  I wish she’d have less time to trim my nails – and maybe forget to clean my ears.

I guess she is OK.  She smells like poop a lot, so that isn’t so bothersome.  Here’s another pic of me and her.

Enough about her, because, you know, this is MY blog.  She can get her own blog.  (I hope she doesn’t, Momma barely finds time to write what I tell her to)

So more about me.  I am on Palladia now for about 3 weeks, and I’ve been on and off it because I keep getting *The Runs*.  You know – when you have to RUN outside (or where ever you all poop) because the urge is just THAT intense.  So now I’m also on Flagyl to get rid of that, but we are trying to find a balance on dosages.  So I was on 80 mg of Palladia, and now I’m going down to 65 mg.  I was at my doggie oncologist yesterday and that’s what they decided.

And Momma has got me back on my PT workout.  We weren’t doing much because Momma wasn’t feeling well towards the end of her carrying around that hairless pup inside her.  (Momma wants me to mention she was 8 lbs 15 oz when she was born c-section.)  But now that Momma is feeling better, she’s up my fluffy butt again with all these discs and the bosu ball.  Core training she calls it….I’d call it Bore training if I wasn’t getting treats while we were doing it.

So that’s what is going on here.  Oh, yeah, and Lola is still a pesky little sister.  Almost ran me down on the back deck stairs the other day.  As if my confidence wasn’t shaky enough!

  1. Oh Butchey I remember when my pawrents brought home Noah. Finchy and I were depressed for weeks. We liked him better once he started to eat in a high chair. Make sure to position yourself next to or around that area. Tess will then be your best friend! Sorry about the runs 🙁 those aren’t fun at all.

Oh if Tess does cry a lot, my mom bought this blanket when Juliana was born called The Miracle Blanket. It helped with her screaming- some. Juli had lots of medical issues that she screamed about.

PS say hi to Lola for me 😉

  2. Butchey, it sounds like you have a very busy household!! And what a good big brother you are, guarding your little sister like that! Be sure and tell your Mom & Dad congratulations for me! I’m sorry to hear you’re having some “runny” issues. I hope that gets worked out real fast and that your stomach settles down. Stay strong big guy!!

  3. Oh boy Butchey, you and I are in a similar boat up that similar poopy creek without a paddle. The pups are kind of cute in an ugly sort of way unless they’re noisy. The best part is that they get to poop on themselves and we get to smell it. But they don’t get in trouble and that is very unfair. Our grandpup is 7 weeks old and she is spending a lot of time here. In fact, she is here right this second and I wish she’d leave. Too much busy stuff for my tastes. (And Evelyn is such a jerk about the pup.)

I will say “congratulations” to you and Lola. You can pass that on to your folks if you like. Personally I don’t think it’s such a big deal.

As for the other stuff, I’m thinking about you and hoping you get well. I want you to kick this sucker to the curb and then lift your leg (well, maybe you’ll have to squat) all over it. Sit on it, tie it up and flush it down the toilet. Just win. Ok?

    Love, Dakota

  4. Hi Butchey, you are being very understanding about the hairless pup. I’m not sure I would have liked sharing my mum’s attention with anyone else.

Good luck with the Palladia. Keep in close contact with your vet re the symptoms. I had lots of trouble with it. I got the runs and then when that settled down I got bleeding ulcers. Not fun!

  5. Butchey you are a mind reader. I was just thinking about you and your family and wondering how things were going. Glad to hear about the Palladia, sounds like a good treatment plan and I bet the lower dose will help with the runs issue.
And hugs to baby Tessa- you will grow to love her-just give her a little time. Come visit us at Daniel Webster some day- just for a visit, not any problems!

  6. Wow you guys have been busy!
That video is so cute – I love how Lola is just in the background going, “heeeee, what? what’s going on?”
She looks a little like an airhead, Butchey. And your mama making you do a Bore Workout is no fun either. And a hairless pup interrupting your beauty sleep?!? Geez. It’s no wonder your tummy is upset. Mine would be too!

I hope the lower dose helps! Abby’s tummy didn’t like that Palladia stuff either. But I hope your tummy does ok with the lower dose and that it helps you kick some cancer butt!
